Training and qualifications

Akit graduated from Guy’s Dental Institute in 2002. He went on to work in general practice, following which he spent two years in hospital receiving training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, general medicine, and dental specialties. Whilst in private practice, Akit completed the top-rated UK prosthodontics specialist training programme at UCL Eastman Dental Hospital and Institute in London. He received his master’s degree in clinical dentistry in fixed and removable prosthodontics with distinction, and an award for clinical and academic excellence in 2009.

Akit is a registered specialist in prosthodontics with the General Dental Council. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS), Bupa Dental Care Advisory Committee and a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He also works at UCL Eastman Dental Institute as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Restorative Dentistry and at Bristol University as a lecturer in dental implantology. He is also an honorary consultant for GC, Solventum, Straumann and Komet.

He is an experienced prosthodontist, providing comprehensive and complex restorative care. Prosthodontics is the sub-speciality of restorative dentistry, which focuses on the art and science of rebuilding damaged teeth and replacing missing teeth back to normal function with a natural appearance. He has special interests in preventive and minimal intervention dentistry, crown and bridgework, dentures, implants, and cosmetic rehabilitation.
